Kyohun Taekwon-Do ASKÖ

About us

More than a club.

Kyohun is a community that supports people on their personal path in martial arts with poise, respect and responsibility.

Our philosophy

Kyohun

'Kyohun' (교훈) means teaching, discipline and life wisdom. It expresses our aim not only to teach Taekwon-Do, but to understand it as a path of personal development.

Inner strength

Our training does not focus on competition or performance alone, but on developing character, mindfulness and inner strength.

Tradition & modernity

We connect the traditional values of Korean martial arts with modern training methods and a respectful learning culture.

What sustains us

Our actions are guided by the five tenets of Taekwon-Do.

These values shape how we treat one another, training in the dojang and the personal development of every individual, regardless of age or experience.

  1. Courtesy
  2. Integrity
  3. Perseverance
  4. Self-discipline
  5. Indomitable Spirit

Our dojang

In the south of Vienna is our own training venue, dedicated exclusively to Taekwon-Do and free from school-gym use or shared occupancy.

Two separate training rooms, a garden area for outdoor practice and high-quality equipment enable focused, safe and continuous training.

Our federation affiliations

Shared standards. Common values.

For us, federation affiliation is more than a formal membership. It places training, gradings, continuing education and competition within a shared professional framework that reaches beyond our own club. We therefore choose to follow more than our own standards: we work within clear rules, recognisable standards and shared responsibilities.

Kyohun is a member of ITF-Austria and is therefore connected to the European and worldwide federation structure of AETF and ITF. As a member of ASKÖ, we are also part of organised sport in Austria.

01 / WORLDWIDE

ITF

The International Taekwon-Do Federation is the worldwide governing body and connects its national member associations. It sets shared technical standards, grading guidelines and competition rules, creating a framework that reaches beyond individual clubs and schools.

National teams of member countries compete at World Championships. The World Cup, by contrast, is an open international club tournament for clubs from around the world.

02 / EUROPE

AETF

The All Europe Taekwon-Do Federation connects the national member associations across Europe and coordinates technical, sporting and organisational matters at European level.

National teams compete at European Championships. The European Cup, by contrast, is an open European club tournament for clubs from across Europe.

03 / AUSTRIA

ITF-Austria

ITF-Austria is the national ITF member association in Austria. It connects Austrian member clubs with the European and worldwide federation structure.

The association organises national competitions, seminars and Dan gradings, providing a shared professional framework in Austria. The national team represents Austria at European and World Championships.

04 / AUSTRIA

ASKÖ

ASKÖ is one of Austria’s three national sports umbrella organisations and connects around 4,500 member clubs. Its focus is sport as part of an active and connected club community.

As a member, we contribute to that work. Through our dojang and ongoing club activities, we create a place where children, teenagers, adults, seniors and families can train together, develop and be part of a community.

Kyohun aims to be more than a place for Taekwon-Do. We want to bring people together through sport, support personal development and take responsibility for one another.

Competition & tournaments

Competition disciplines in ITF Taekwon-Do

ITF Taekwon-Do has five competition disciplines. They focus on different aspects, from technical execution and direct comparison to jumping ability, striking power and working with a partner. Our coaching team will be happy to explain tournaments and preparation.

01

Tul · Patterns

Set attack and defence techniques are performed as a continuous pattern. Technical precision, power, control and rhythm are assessed, individually or as a team.

02

Sparring

Two athletes compete with protective equipment in light-contact or semi-contact under set rules. Points are awarded for valid, controlled hand and foot techniques.

03

Special technique

Set jumping kicks are performed against targets placed particularly high or far away. Correct technique, accuracy, jumping ability and control are decisive.

04

Power breaking

Boards are broken with specified hand and foot techniques. The score considers the number of boards broken as well as technique, precision and power.

05

Prearranged sparring

Two partners perform a jointly prepared fight sequence with realistic attacks and defence. Technique, dynamics, coordination and the design of the sequence are assessed.
